In this project in Aitona, sandwich panels are used for part of the roof and the exterior walls of a home built using the KIT StarModul system.

Sandwich panels allow for rapid progress on the building envelope, providing protection, insulation, and a clean finish on both the roof and the facade.

Sandwich panel for housing

Although sandwich panels are often associated with industrial buildings, they can also be used in residential and prefabricated housing projects.

In this home, the panel is integrated into a StarModul metal structure, enclosing the roof and preparing the house for the next phase of construction, which includes the remaining exterior walls, windows and doors, and utilities.

Roofing and Enclosure in a Single Solution

The sandwich panel serves multiple purposes in a single component: exterior protection, insulation, and interior finish.

On the roof, it helps protect the home from rain, sun, and temperature changes. On the facade, it provides a clean, lightweight, and quick-to-install solution for enclosing the building.

Key Benefits

Quick to install, ideal for industrialized construction.Good insulation against heat and cold.Clean interior finish, without the need for complex solutions.Lightweight, suitable for modular structures.Versatile, suitable for roofs, facades, and auxiliary enclosures.

Conclusion

This house in Aitona shows that sandwich panels can be a very effective solution for residential buildings as well.

Combined with a modular structure, it allows for rapid enclosure of the building envelope, improves insulation, and moves toward a cleaner, more controlled construction process.
