The Lleida Public Library is one of the city\u2019s most important cultural institutions. Located in the former Maternitat building, which opened in 1889, it is part of a key cultural hub alongside the Diocesan Museum, the Historical Archives, and the Rector\u2019s Office. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n

For this project, the StarModul<\/mark><\/a> team is renovating a section of<\/span>the roof which showed clear signs of wear and tear due to the passage of time. The old solution combined glass and deteriorated metal sheets, posing a risk of leaks, breakage, accumulated dirt, and an appearance that was unsuitable for a public building of this nature. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

The renovation involves replacing the old components with a solution that is lighter, stronger, and <\/span><\/p>\n\n

Functional: translucent<\/mark><\/a> and new skylights<\/a>.<\/mark><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The goal is to maintain natural light, improve protection against rain and wind, and enhance the overall safety of the complex.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n

In a library, natural light is especially valuable: it improves visual comfort, creates a sense of spaciousness, and <\/span><\/p>\n\n

It reduces the need for artificial lighting for much of the day. That is why a translucent roof was chosen, <\/span><\/p>\n\n

capable of renovating the building from a technical standpoint without compromising its bright character.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n
