A renovated an old roof, renovated
The Lleida Public Library is one of the city’s most important cultural institutions. Located in the former Maternitat building, which opened in 1889, it is part of a key cultural hub alongside the Diocesan Museum, the Historical Archives, and the Rector’s Office.
For this project, the StarModul team is renovating a section ofthe roof which showed clear signs of wear and tear due to the passage of time. The old solution combined glass and deteriorated metal sheets, posing a risk of leaks, breakage, accumulated dirt, and an appearance that was unsuitable for a public building of this nature.

The goal is to maintain natural light, improve protection against rain and wind, and enhance the overall safety of the complex.
In a library, natural light is especially valuable: it improves visual comfort, creates a sense of spaciousness, and
It reduces the need for artificial lighting for much of the day. That is why a translucent roof was chosen,
capable of renovating the building from a technical standpoint without compromising its bright character.

Result: safety, watertightness, and a better appearance
The renovation improves three key areas: safety, watertightness, and natural light. The new materials allow for more precise installation of joints, overlaps, and Finishing touches, key steps to prevent future leaks and ensure proper integration with the existing roof.
The result is a cleaner, more uniform roof that is ready to continue fulfilling its purpose
for years.
